Around
Kylesku
Kylesku
is a small fishing hamlet and the base for three prawn fishing boats
from which fresh langoustines are available on the pier most days.
There are boat cruises three times a day to view Britain’s
highest waterfall, Eas-Coul-Aulin
and the newly established gardens at Kerrachar.
The village is also home to the Kylesku Hotel, with its excellent
restaurant and a superb selection of malt whiskys. A comprehensive
range of groceries, provisions and outdoor equipment is available
from Ullapool,
Lochinver
and Scourie.
The surrounding area offers ideal opportunities
for hill walkers and mountaineers, offering easy access to Suilven,
Ben More Assynt, Quinag and many other challenging walks.
The local scenery is among the most spectacular in the UK and there
is an abundance of wildlife including otters, eagles and of course,
deer. It is popular with nature lovers, bird watchers, anglers,
artists and photographers.
Within a 30-mile radius are the beautiful lonely beaches of Oldshoremore,
Sandwood Bay and Balnakeil. Other places of interest are Smoo Cave,
Cape Wrath and the bird sanctuary on Handa Island.
